🌿 Course Notes šŸ—“Ā 10th October 2025

āœĀ From Tom, Course Manager

šŸŒ¦ļøĀ Course Conditions & Weather

Aside from the small matter of Storm Amy, the weather has been relatively settled since mid-September. The course continues to recover well from the dry summer months - reassuring for future years.

In September, we recorded 87mm of rainfall, slightly above the monthly average of 85mm.

⛳ Greens Update

Unfortunately, Dollar Spot diseaseĀ has appeared on several greens. Frustratingly, the specific greens affected tend to vary each year. We’re maintaining our turf health programme to continue improving soil conditions and resilience.

We’ll also carry on with selective hedge and tree removalsĀ to improve light and air circulation, as recommended by our agronomist.

A liquid feedĀ is planned for next week — our sixth this year — alongside two granular feeds, which is more than in previous years.

We attempted hollow tiningĀ recently, but the sub-surface remained too dry, so we instead solid-tined greens and surrounds on holes 7–9. The remaining holes will be completed next week.

šŸ—’ļøĀ Project Updates

Alongside our regular greens maintenance, our Autumn and Winter focusĀ will be on three key areas:

1ļøāƒ£Ā Tee Improvements

We’ll be improving grass teeing areas to ensure better playing surfaces for most of the year. This will include levelling, topdressing, and overseedingĀ as required. Raised tees that aren’t cut by the Robots are now cut a little higher to help recovery from the Summer wear and tear.

2ļøāƒ£Ā Tree & Hedge Maintenance

We’ll continue to thin or removeĀ foliage restricting healthy turf growth, while also planting new treesĀ in ā€˜out-of-play’ areas to maintain biodiversity and habitat balance.

3ļøāƒ£Ā Bunker Maintenance

We’ll be edging, reshaping, and replenishing sandĀ across all bunkers. Some, such as the 9th greenside bunker, will need more significant work to reduce the face and remove sand splash build-up.

šŸ‚Ā Autumn & Winter: Protecting the Course

As conditions soften, we ask all golfers to adapt their habits to help protect the course:

  • Switch to carry bagsĀ where possible; those using trolleys should carry divot sand.

  • Replace divots and repair pitch marks — aim for two per green to make a big difference.

  • Follow roped areas and avoid shortcuttingĀ to greens and tees; these routes will be added as needed to protect high-traffic zones.

šŸ“Ā Next Update: End of October
