🌿 COURSE NOTES

šŸ—“Ā 15th April 2026

āœĀ From Tom, Course Manager

ā›…ļøĀ Course Conditions

March brought a much-needed spell of drier weather, with just 29mm of rainfall, allowing the course to recover well following four particularly wet winter months.

These improved conditions have enabled the team to return to the course more consistently and progress several areas of planned maintenance. Encouragingly, the course has responded well as soil temperatures continue to rise and growth increases.

⛳ Greens Update

At the end of March we successfully completed our Spring renovation works. With the continued dry conditions since then, we have periodically watered the greens and surrounds to encourage recovery and help wash in the topdressing sand.

The greens mower cutting units have also recently been sharpened, resulting in a noticeably improved quality of cut and presentation. The cutting height is now set at 5.5mm.

Next week we plan to apply both granular and liquid fertiliser, along with a wetting agent. Wetting agents help water penetrate dry or hydrophobic soils more effectively, reducing runoff and ensuring moisture reaches the root-zone evenly. This supports stronger, healthier turf as we move further into the growing season.

🌱 Mowing & Robotic Mowers

Our robotic mowersĀ have been operating on most days over the past six weeks, and we are gradually reducing the height of cut back towards 15mmĀ as conditions allow.

We continue to refine the working areas covered by the robots so they can maintain as much of the closely mown turf as possible, including tees, approaches and fairways.

As a reminder, please do not stop the robotic mowers unless there is an emergency, as a member of staff is required to manually restart them.

šŸŒĀ 5th Tee Improvements

This month we have resumed work on widening the 5th back tee. There is still some subsoil to level before applying sand and seed to complete the surface preparation.

The forward tee area will also be over-seeded and top dressed, and some additional shrub clearance and branch trimming will take place to finalise the surrounding area.

We are aiming to complete the project by the end of the month, with the tee expected to be back in play this summer.
