šæĀ Course NotesĀ Ā
šĀ 12th September 2025
āĀ From Tom, Course Manager
š¦ļøĀ Course Conditions & Weather
The change of season was immediate this year ā September arrived and Autumn came with it!The rainfall at the end of August brought a welcome āgreen upāĀ across the course, with tees and fairways showing strong recovery. Some areas may still need additional over-seeding to help them along, but the early signs are encouraging.
For context: August delivered just 29mm of rain, well below our monthly average of 74mm.
ā³Ā Greens Update
Following aeration and topdressing, the greens have recovered quickly, helped by the timely rain.
A liquid feedĀ is planned for later this week to continue their improvement.
Later this month we will carry out deep aeration to 10ā12 inches. In addition, 2ā3 greens will undergo hollow tining, as previously noted.
šļøĀ Project Updates
Cut & Collect of RoughLast week we cut and collected the out-of-play rough areas. These zones are valuable wildlife habitats during summer but tend to become dense with coarse grasses. By cutting and removing the growth (rather than letting it die back), we are:
Reducing soil nutrients, which favours finer grasses and wildflowers.
Improving biodiversity.
Making golf balls more visibleĀ for players.
Tee Area Works
Work continues on the 1st/4th and 5th tee areas.
On the 3rd hole, we are finally levelling off the soil and hardcore mound on the left of the tee, reusing the material to build a pathway behind the tee. We will also reshape the surrounding mounding to improve presentation.
Bunkers
All bunkers have been inspected for sand depth, with fresh sand added where needed.
Over the winter, we will focus on refurbishing the bunkers that require further attention.
Bell Relocation ā 6th to 8th HoleFollowing committee discussions:
The bell on the 6thĀ will be removed, as the Battery Storage development now prohibits drives at the green, making the bell unnecessary.
A new bell will be installed on the 8th hole, where blind tee shots from the back tees over the Ash tree could pose safety risks.
This work will be carried out in the coming weeks, once the ground is soft enough to secure the post.
