The storm over the weekend (23/24 Nov) brought some challenges to the course. The brook alongside the 9th hole burst its banks, causing significant flooding. By Wednesday, most of the surface water had receded, and we managed to brush any remaining water off the greens. Unfortunately, the saturated ground has prevented us from mowing, so our focus over the last three days has been clearing debris across the course.
Tree Maintenance
With fewer golfers on the course, we’ve also taken the opportunity to carry out some necessary tree maintenance. Two ash trees on the left side of the 1st fairway were removed due to extensive damage from golf balls. While we avoid tree removal wherever possible, some problematic trees must be addressed for safety or strategic reasons.
Important Updates for Golfers:
Trolley Ban: Trolleys are entirely banned on Thursday, November 28th, due to the wet conditions. Exceptions apply only to those with an up-to-date medical certificate. We’ll provide an update on this as conditions improve.
Winter Mats in Use: The back tees have now been moved to winter mats.
Safety Notice: Please be mindful of wet and slippery ground conditions, avoiding wetter areas wherever possible. Take extra care when walking on the course.
Roped Areas: Always walk around roped-off sections unless there’s a deliberate gap for passing through.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we continue to care for the course through these challenging conditions.
