We’re excited to share an update on the new driving range at Whitley Golf Club, which is now really starting to take shape.

This has been a significant project for the club and over the past few months the design and plans have continued to evolve as we’ve worked through the practical challenges of creating a completely new facility.

The result is a purpose-built, design-led driving range that we believe will offer something genuinely different - combining distinctive design, the latest technology and a great environment for golfers of all abilities.

The New Driving Range

The new facility will feature:

  • 16 TrackMan bays - 12 covered indoor bays and 4 outdoor bays, giving golfers the opportunity to practise, play and enjoy the range whatever the weather.

  • TrackMan technology throughout, providing an exciting new way to practise, play games and improve your golf.

  • A new Range Reception & Pro Shop, conveniently located at the top of the car park - opening hours TBC!

  • Rob Morris will be returning to Whitley as our full-time PGA Professional. Rob will bring his wealth of experience and knowledge back to Whitley at an exciting time as we develop the new facility.

  • Matt, now a qualified PGA Professional, will continue to have a presence at Whitley, supporting his existing clients and working closely with Rob over the coming months.

  • We’re also exploring some exciting food and refreshment options, including a food van, to make the range a place to spend time as well as practise.

The existing practice area will remain largely unchanged for now, although the removal of the current privet hedge will create a larger and more usable chipping area.

More than just a driving range!

Our aim is for the new facility to appeal to everyone - from golfers looking for a serious practice session or a lesson, to groups of friends looking for something fun to do together.

With TrackMan, floodlighting and covered bays, the range will also bring a new dimension to Whitley, allowing golf to continue into the evenings and giving visitors another reason to spend time at the club.

There is still plenty to do before we open, but seeing the building take shape is incredibly exciting.

We’ll be sharing more details, including opening plans, coaching, TrackMan experiences and some special launch events, over the coming weeks.

Watch this space!

From everyone at Whitley Golf Club
